Koh Talu is a private island located a fifteen minute boat ride from the coast of Bangsaphan, a town in the south of Hua Hin province. The beaches of Koh Talu are covered in green palm trees and are truly beautiful, but it is the island’s shallow reef that stands out as its speciality. The reef consists of different forms of coral, including Mushroom Coral, Staghorn Coral, and Branching Pore Coral, and plays host to a vibrant aquatic life. Colourful moon wrasse, parrot fish, butterfly fish, sergeant major fish are just a few of the many different types of fish snorkelers are bound to run into.

The presence of diverse marine life at a shallow depth and the weak oceanic currents make the waters off Talu the ideal spot for complete novices to take up snorkelling. Those looking to avoid the crowds should try and visit Talu during the weekdays. Scuba divers and snorkelers should take care not to stand on the coral as they are highly sensitive and easily damaged. Other than diving and snorkelling one can also go kayaking, trekking, sailing and fishing on the island. There are several tour operators that ferry people to the island and provide facilities for snorkelling and a few other water sports. This allows tourists to shop around for the best price and equipment.
